Meet EC Quinn
Since this is my debut newsletter, it seems appropriate to do a bit of an introduction, even though we may already be connected in some way. 🙂
Let’s take a little “getting to know me quiz” and see how you do! Will I be able to surprise you? Share at least one interesting fact that made you say, “I didn’t know that!”? I hope so!
So without further ado…
The Top 10 Fun Facts about Quinn (in no particular order):
1. I had a pet mouse in high school who was the inspiration for Cal in Premonition: The Gift. His name was “Mouse” (so original, I know!), and I taught him to run a maze for a school project.
2. I love chocolate. All chocolate. And generally have a little (or big!) piece every day.
3. I have enjoyed a 20+ year career as a physical therapist in a variety of settings, including ~16 years as a school-based therapist. I then transitioned to a short stint as a healthcare copywriter before (re)focusing full-time on novel writing. (Creative writing has always been a focus in my life.)
4. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I enjoy dressing up (still!), but I don’t enjoy haunted houses. (I blame my overactive imagination, ha!)
5. I started writing when I was 8 years old, and my lifelong dream was always to be an author.
6. I love to run. I ran competitively in high school and college. My favorite races were the 2-mile in track (high school) and cross-country in college–although I did not love the hills! My most memorable race was the 20-mile Syttende Mai in Stoughton, WI.
7. Since childhood, almost every day I wake up with words or phrases in my head. I assumed this was normal and that everyone woke up to words. However, I recently learned this is not true. (Utterly shocked! Still!)
8. I am an avid reader. Growing up, we went to the library almost every Friday night. (What can I say? Both my parents were teachers!) I continued the tradition, and my kids practically grew up at our local library. Sorry, not sorry. 🙂 (And my TBR pile is not getting any smaller!)
9. I have been working on Premonition, my 4 (5?) book middle-grade series, for almost a decade. I turned down two publishing “deals” prior to signing my contract in June, 2023. Moral of the story: you just can’t rush it. Choose the path that is right for you.
10. I LOVE animals. All animals. I truly could live in a zoo and be very happy (some days I feel I already do, ha!) Highest pet count at the same time: 7. Current pets: 4. That includes 1 rescue dog and 3 shelter cats. 🙂
Well, how did you do?
Did you already know all of this about me?
